BILL NUMBER:A2341A

Title of bill

An act to amend the retirement and social security law, in relation to the computation of final average salary

Purpose or general idea of bill

This bill would allow certain members of certain Tier 1 members and all Tier 2 members of the New York State and Local Employees' Retirement System or the New York State and Local Police and Fire Retirement System to receive credit for up to thirty days of unused vacation time in the calculation of their final average salary.

Summary of specific provisions

This bill amends Subdivisions a and b of Section 443 of the Retirement and Social Security Law.

Justification

This bill equalizes a benefit that is already available to members of the retirement system in most of Tier One, Three and Four. This bill extends this benefit to some Tier 1 and all tier 2 members of the retirement system, hence achieving greater equity among members of the Retirement Systems.
