BILL NUMBER:A3695A
Title of bill
An act to amend the parks, recreation and historic pres- ervation law, in relation to the protection and management of the state park system
Purpose or general idea of bill
The purpose of the bill is to codify in law the state park and historic site system
Summary of provisions
The bill incorporates all areas of land and water now or hereafter administered by the commissioner of Parks, Recre- ation and Historic Preservation for park, historic, parkway, recreation- al or other purposes as part of the state park system which it formally creates.
Justification
Recent budgetary struggles have illustrated the precari- ous nature of our parks and historic sites. A need exists to codify in law the state parks system in order to foster the goal of protection of park and historic site resources, appropriately balanced with the use and appreciation of those resources by visitors.
