BILL NUMBER:A8953
Title of bill
An act to amend the public authorities law, in relation to issuance of annual special hauling permits for trucking companies in certain circumstances on the New York state thruway in the Westchester area
Purpose
This bill provides for issuance of annual special hauling permits for trucking companies in certain circumstances on the New York State thruway in the Westchester area
Justification
This bill would make it easier for Samuel Blakley Tree Company to move bucket trucks within his local operating area. Bucket trucks need a daily over length permit for the NYS Thruway System. These units operate for two local utility companies on a daily basis in and around Westchester /Rockland County. They can be called in to service at anytime for emergency response to the MTA, Consolidated Edison, Orange and Rockland for daily contracted jobs. In the past this company has been called in by the NYSTA for rock slides and bridge collapse on emergency. Similar annual permits are available to the NYS Steel Haulers and the Milk Haulers. This legislation will make daily operations of there fleets to run smoother.
