Title of bill
An act to legalize, validate, ratify and confirm a transportation contract of the South Colonie central school district
Purpose or general idea of bill
The bill legalizes, validates, ratifies and confirms certain transportation contracts of the South Colonie central school district for the 2008-09 school year.
Summary of specific provisions
The bill legalizes, validates, ratifies and confirms transportation contract C260471R from the 2008-09 school year. The bill further directs the State Education Department to consider these contracts as valid and proper obligations of the South Colonie central school district.
Justification
Current law requires school districts to make transportation bids for contracts public at least five days in advance of the bid opening. South Colonie central school district provided the local newspaper the information on the upcoming bid several days in advance of the bid opening. However, due to a clerical error the ad was only in place four days prior to the bid opening for the transportation contract C260471R.
This special legislation seeks to forgive that error and help them recover their lost transportation aid.
