Title of bill
An act to amend chapter 276 of the laws of 1993 relating to authorizing the town of Cheektowaga, county of Erie, to lease certain park lands in such town, in relation to extending such authorization
Purpose
Authorizes the town of Cheektowaga to lease certain park lands in such town, in relation to extending such authorization to Garrett LLC.
Summary of provisions
Section 1. Paragraph (a) of section 1 of chapter 276 of the laws of 1993 relating to authorizing the town of Cheektowaga, county of Erie, to lease certain park lands in such town, as amended by chapter 455 of the laws of 2001.
Existing law
This is a new bill.
Justification
When the Town of Cheektowaga and Garrett LLC recently signed the lease referred to in this bill, a provision was included that required the Town to apply to the state for an additional 10/20 year lease period within the first year of the lease being signed The lease would then be in place for 40/50 years if the application was approved. This bill puts that application in motion so a home rule may be passed. The Town Board has decided to extend the lease an additional 10 years, making it a 40 year lease.
