Title of bill
An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to requiring notification of pesticide use on golf courses
Purpose
To provide information to the golfing public about pesticides applied on golf courses.
Summary of provisions
Creates a new Title 17 in the Environmental Conservation Law which requires golf course operators who use pesticides to post signs informing golfers of the application and to provide information on the pesticides used to any individual requesting it.
Sections 2 and 3 concern sanctions for a golf course operator who violates a provision of title 17 of the environmental conservation law.
Justification
Golf courses are among the greatest users of pesticides. Yet, golfers and those who live near golf courses have no direct means to ascertain what toxic chemicals they may be exposed to or be in contact with. This legislation would provide golfers and neighbors with more information about pesticide use.
