Title of bill
An act making an appropriation for flood mitigation and stream bank restoration in the Sauquoit Creek Basin
Purpose
Provides funding to the Sauquoit Creek Basin Intermunicipal Commission for flood mitigation and stream bank restoration and stabilization throughout the Sauquoit Creek Basin
Summary of provisions
Appropriates $900,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary, to the Sauquoit Creek Basin Intermunicipal Commission for flood mitigation and stream bank restoration and stabilization throughout the Sauquoit Creek Basin.
Justification
The 900,000 appropriated in this bill was the original state share of a large Corps of Engineer flood control project for the lower portion of the Sauquoit Creek Basin. Since the State's share for the original project was not used for the Corps of Engineer project and the funds are still allocated, it is only appropriate that the $900,000 be used by the Sauquoit Creek Basin Intermunicipal Commission for flood mitigation, and stream bank restoration and stabilization throughout the Sauquoit Cree Basin. These funds will make it possible for the Commission to conduct these important projects.
