Title of bill
An act to amend chapter 912 of the laws of 1920, relating to allowing and regulating boxing, sparring and wrestling matches, in relation to the commission quorum required to do business
Purpose or general idea of bill
To require the presence of the Commissioner of the State Athletic Commission who is designated as Chairman in order to constitute a quorum so long as there is such a designee or so long as any such designee is not incapacitated.
Summary of provisions
The bill would simply add the requirement that the Chairman of the Commission (if a Chairman has been designated or if such designee is not incapacitated) be present to constitute a quorum or to conduct business.
Existing law
Any two of three commissioners constitutes a quorum.
Justification
The person designated as Chairman of the Commission is the only full time commissioner and manages the commission on a day to day basis. As such, no action should be taken without the benefit of his or her presence at a commission meeting.
Fiscal implications
None.
