Title of bill

An act to authorize the village of Hastings-on-Hudson, in the county of Westchester, to offer an optional twenty year retirement plan to police officers John DeBlasio, David Dosin and Anthony Gentile

Purpose or general idea of bill

This bill would authorize the village of Hastings-On-Hudson to offer an optional twenty year retirement plan to John DeBlasio, David Dosin, and Anthony Gentile, police officers employed by the village.

Summary of specific provisions

Section One authorizes the village of Hasting-On-Hudson to offer an optional twenty year retirement plan, as provided by Section 384-d of the Retirement and Social Security Law, to John DeBlasio, David Dosin, and Anthony Gentile, police officers employed by the village of Hastings-On-Hudson.

Section 2 of the bill states that all employer costs associated with implementing the provisions of this act shall be borne by the village of Hastings-On-Hudson.

Section 3 is the effective date.

Justification

When each of the aforementioned police officers began employment with the village of Hastings-On-Hudson, they were not properly notified of the right to enroll in the Section 384-d twenty year retirement plan. Since each individual has been employed for more than one year they cannot enroll in the plan without a specific act of the Legislature. This bill accomplishes that purpose.
