Purpose
Provides for requiring nursing homes, clinics, and home care services agencies to report all reportable incidents.
Summary of provisions
This legislation would extend the state's hospital incident reporting system to include nursing homes, clinics, and home care services agencies. It also requires that these providers investigate all reportable incidents within thirty days of obtaining knowledge of the incident. As a part of this investigation, they shall provide a report of their findings to the Department of Health. The Department shall refer information for appropriate action to the Office of Professional Medical Conduct, the Office of Professions of the Education Department, or any other appropriate governmental agency.

Justification
When serious incidents occur in nursing homes, clinics, and home care services agencies, it is in the public health's best interest to have these incidents reported.
