Title of bill

An act to amend the tax law, in relation to the exemption of dental adhesives

Purpose

The purpose of the bill is to make dental adhesive products (e.g. denture gel) exempt from sales tax.

Summary of provisions

Section 1 of this bill adds a new paragraph 44 to subdivision (a) of Section 1115 of the tax law, adding dental adhesives to the list of items exempted from sales tax.

Justification

Dental adhesives, including but not limited to denture gel products, are most commonly used by senior citizens, many of whom have reduced or limited incomes. Use of these products are required on a permanent basis once needed by an individual; providing exemption from sales taxes provides a needed financial assist to those seniors in need.
