Title of bill

An act to amend the general municipal law, in relation to increasing the maximum prize awards allowed in bingo games

Purpose

Raise minimum limits on bingo games run by charitable organizations.

Summary of provisions

Increases maximum bingo prize from $1,000.00 to $3,000.00 and aggregate total prize from $3,000.00 to $6,000.00.

Justification

In these times of fiscal restraint not for profit organizations and charitable organizations need alternative methods of fundraising. Increasing the bingo prizes will enable those organizations to make more money from bingo by charging more based upon the larger prize award.
