Title of bill

An act in relation to capital improvement projects in the Dundee central school district

Purpose

To allow the Dundee Central School District to be eligible for school building aid that would have otherwise have been available to the district had the district filed a timely final cost report.

Summary of provisions

Section 1: Legislative findings which state the necessity of providing anticipated capital construction aid for projects 680801-0004-07 and 680801-4002-003 to the Dundee school district. Section 2: Ratifies the acts of the Dundee Central school district in attempting to comply with cost report filing deadlines for the 2009-2010 fiscal year. Section 3: Directs the education department to consider the school district's approved costs as valid and proper. Section 4: Provides that the act shall take effect immediately.

Justification

Without payment of this aid, the capital improvement projects undertaken by the Dundee Central School District will impose additional, unanticipated hardship on district taxpayers. This bill will allow for a lessor impact upon district taxpayers and assure that anticipated revenue is eventually made available to the district.
