Title of bill

An act to amend the private housing finance law, in relation to the exclusion of a veteran's disability benefits from the computation of income in the selection of tenants

Summary of provisions

This bill would add a new subdivision 12 to Section 31 of the Private Housing Finance Law to exclude a veteran's disability benefits from determining income in Mitchell-Lama housing developments.

Justification

Disabled veterans have endured many hardships for their country, and as such deserve something in return. By excluding a veteran's disability benefits from determining probable aggregate annual income in Mitchell-Lama housing, the disabled veteran will obtain the financial assistance that he may need to survive in a fast-paced functional world.

Fiscal implications

None.

Effective date

This act shall take effect on the first of August next succeeding the date on which it shall have become a law.
