Title of bill
An act to amend the highway law, in relation to the Shawangunk mountains scenic byway
Purpose or general idea of bill
To create an alternate route for the Shawangunk Mountains Scenic Byway.
Summary of specific provisions
Creates an alternate Route for the Shawangunk Mountains Scenic Byway to include a portion of roadway starting at the intersection of state Route 299 and Routes 44/55 through Routes 44/55 to Route 208 in the Town of Gardiner.
Effects of present law which this bill would alter
Would create an alternate Route of the Scenic Byway.
Justification
The entrance point to the Shawangunk Mountain Scenic byway is in any number of communities. One of the most popular would be entering through the Town of New Paltz. This alternate Route creates a smaller loop on the Scenic Byway within the Town of Gardiner. It enables those who want to participate in the Scenic Byway experience with so doing without having to follow the more substantial loop which is part of the main Byway.
