Title of bill
An act to authorize Greenwood Lake Union Free school district to file for aid on behalf of certain students receiving certain educational services from Tuxedo Union Free school district
Purpose
To authorize Greenwood Lake to retain financial responsibility for state aid for students receiving educational services from Tuxedo.
Summary of provisions
Section 1: Authorizes Greenwood Lake Union Free School District to file for aid on behalf of certain educational services from Tuxedo Union Free School District.
Section 2: Effective date.
Justification
Greenwood Lake UFSD has had a long-standing relationship with the Tuxedo UFSD to educate their high school students. Unfortunately the cost of educating students has risen precipitously because of the unusual difference in wealth between the two districts. Tuxedo is a high wealth district so the aid passed on to Greenwood Lake is the bare minimum of aid. If Greenwood Lake could retain those students within the Greenwood Lake UFSD, they could collect considerably higher excess cost aid. This bill will allow the Greenwood Lake UFSD to retain the right to file for aid on behalf of certain students receiving certain education services from Tuxedo Union Free School District.
