Title of bill
An act in relation to authorizing the village of Matinecock to expend certain trust funds for the restoration of Planting Fields Road
Purpose
The bill authorizes the Village of Matinecock to expend certain funds from the recreation site and improvement fund for the repair of Planting Fields Road.
Summary of provisions
Authorizes the Village of Matinecock to expend certain funds from the recreation, site and improvement fund for the repair of Planting Fields Road.
The expenditure will only be made following a majority vote of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Matinecock and will not exceed $59,000.
Justification
The Village of Matinecock seeks to utilize funds from the recreation, site and improvement fund for the repair and extensive rebuilding of Planting Fields Road. The road is in a state of disrepair and needs to be refurbished so that it can be used to safely access and egress from the State recreation facility.
The trust fund has been in existence since 1969. The fund was created for the acquisition of parklands within the Village. Section 7-730 of the New York State Village Law requires legislative approval to expend funds not used exclusively for recreational uses. This legislation will authorize the use of up to $59,000 for the rebuilding of Planting Fields Road, a road which provides access to the Planting Fields Arboretum.
