Title of bill

An act to amend the highway law, in relation to including a portion of state routes 41 and 41-A in the New York state scenic byways system

Purpose

To include portions of routes 41 and 41-A in the New York State Scenic Byways program.

Summary of provisions

Section 1 - Amends subdivision 1 of section 349-dd of the Highway Law by adding a new paragraph (j-10) to include the portions of routes 41 and 41-A in Cayuga, Cortland, and Onondaga Counties in the New York State Scenic Byways System.

Section 2 - Effective date.

Justification

The New York State Scenic Byways System was created to ensure that certain notable highways received special recognition and attention because of their cultural value. This legislation seeks to add the portions of routes 41 and 41-A within Onondaga, Cortland and Cayuga Counties to this system. Routes 41 and 41-A run through this very special part of the Finger Lakes region and are loved by countless Central New Yorkers. By adding routes 41 and 41-A to the New York State Scenic Byways System, we can provide an appropriate and well-deserved recognition to these highways.
