Title of bill
An act in relation to requiring the office of parks, recreation and historic preservation to operate and maintain all state parks and historic sites under its jurisdiction during the fiscal year that ends March 31, 2011 pursuant to the same seasons of operation, hours of operation, service levels, and public access to facilities as were implemented at the beginning of the fiscal year that ended March 31, 2010
Purpose or general idea of the bill
To ensure that the state's parks and historic sites remain open for SFY 2010-2011.
Summary of provisions
For the state fiscal year beginning April 1, 2010, the New York state office of parks, recreation and historic preservation is hereby authorized and directed to operate and maintain all state parks and state historic sites under the office's jurisdiction pursuant to the same seasons of operation, and at least the same hours of operation, service levels, and public access to facilities as were implemented during the fiscal year that ended March 31, 2010.
Justification
State Parks and Historic Sites are facing closures across the State. We cannot allow these wonderful treasures to be closed. This bill would require OPRHP to use the monies allocated to them to provide the same level of service as in the previous year.
