BILL NUMBER:S8327
Title of bill
An act to amend the retirement and social security law, in relation to service retirement benefits for court reporters employed by the unified court system
Purpose
This bill would provide for a twenty-five year retirement plan for Court reporters employed by the Unified Court System and who are fifty-five years of age.
Summary of provisions
This bill would grant court reporters a 25/55 retirement plan.
Justification
The court reporters, employed by the Unified Court System, are involved in daily contact with dangerous criminals. As such, they are forced to deal with a very stressful and tension-filled environment. In light of the dangerous employment that these reporters are involved in, it is a just reward to allow them to retire after providing twenty-five years of dedicated service.
