BILL NUMBER:S2365

Title of bill

An act in relation to creating a state civil air patrol board

Purpose

To ensure that the services and equipment of the New York wing of the civil air patrol should be utilized to their maximum extent through the establishment of a civil air patrol board.

Summary of provisions

Section 1. Short Title Section 2. Declaration of purpose Section 3. Establishment of the civil air patrol board Section 4. Provides for the organization of the board Section 5. Functions, powers and duties of the board

Justification

The civil air patrol provides the people of the state of New York, at nominal cost, forest fire protection, disaster relief service, guaranteed communications, and aircraft emergency assistance. In addition, the civil air patrol encourages cadet training, ensuring the continued success of the patrol. Most importantly, the civil air patrol's most obvious benefit is its ability to launch hundreds of aircraft by ground personnel, at a moment's notice. Creation of a Civil Air Patrol Board will assist the Civil Air Patrol in carrying out these important functions.
