BILL NUMBER:S3539
Title of bill
An act to amend chapter 483 of the laws of 2010, amending the environmental conservation law relating to hunting by crossbow, in relation to making technical corrections thereto
Purpose
To change the title of Chap. 483 of the laws of 2010 to the "Robert R. Ripberger crossbow legalization act".
Justification
Robert R. Ripberger, who passed away on May 27th, 2010, was an avid central New York sportsman, conservationist, and lifelong volunteer. In 2007, Bob was honored with the united State's EPA's Environmental Quality Award and in November 2009, the Carpenter's Brook Fish Hatchery established a fund to honor his work. Amongst his many contributions to his community, as well as sporting and civic organizations, Bob fought diligently for the legalization of crossbows in New York state. Unfortunately, Bob passed away before he could see his dream realized. Thus, it is only fitting that we honor his legacy by re-naming the crossbow legalization legislation after him.
