BILL NUMBER:S5548B

Title of bill

An act in relation to requiring the commissioner of environmental conservation to identify certain advisory panels, boards, and task forces

Purpose or general idea of bill

The purpose of this bill is to provide information regarding inactive advisory panels, boards, and task forces in Environmental Conservation Law.

Summary of specific provisions

Section one directs the Commissioner of Environmental Conservation to develop a list of inactive advisory panels, boards, and task forces in Environmental Conservation Law. No later than December 31, 2013, the Commissioner shall submit such list to the Legislature and Governor.

Section two contains the effective date.

Justification

The presence of completed, inactive and otherwise unused entities in state law diminishes the importance and effectiveness of active panels and boards.

This Legislation would identify what those entities are. Such a list would be used by the Legislature to consider whether to repeal these entities.

Prior legislative history

New Bill.

Fiscal implications

None.

Effective date

This act shall take effect immediately.
