BILL NUMBER:S6143

Title of bill

An act in relation to legalizing, validating, ratifying and confirming actions of the Rocky Point union free school district with respect to certain building aid contracts

Purpose

To allow the Rocky Point Union Free School district to receive state aid for seven contracts that have been held up due to a ministerial filing error.

Summary of specific provisions

The bill would allow the State Education Department to accept Final Cost Reports for seven projects in the Rocky Point UFSD and process the aid applications.

Justification

The contracts in question represent approximately 2.4 million dollars in aid to the school district. The sole impediment to obtaining the aid is the late filing of Final Cost Reports which occurred through a ministerial error. This bill allows SED to continue the claims process.

Fiscal implications

No additional funds to be appropriated.
