BILL NUMBER:S1104A
Title of bill
An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to providing for lifetime sportsman license for honorably discharged, disabled veterans
Purpose
To allow honorably discharged disabled veterans to purchase a lifetime sportsman license at a reduced rate.
Summary of provisions
Sections one and two allow honorably discharged veterans who are certified as having a forty-percent or greater service-connected disability to purchase a lifetime sportsman license for a twenty dollar fee.
Section three provides the effective date.
Justification
Current law allows disabled veterans to purchase a sportsman license which is renewable each year for a five dollar fee. Although the current law provides for a reduced rate, annual renewal places an undue burden on those who have sacrificed so that we may enjoy our safety and personal freedoms. In recognition of their dedication and service to our country, this act would enable honorably discharged disabled veterans to purchase a life-time sportsman license for a twenty dollar fee. Disabled veterans deserve to enjoy outdoor sporting hobbies such as hunting and fishing for life at a reduced rate.
