BILL NUMBER:S3476A
Title of bill
An act authorizing the assessor of the county of Nassau to accept an application for exemption from real property taxes from Iglesia Evangelica De El Principe De Paz Inc., for a certain parcel of land located in the town of Hempstead
Purpose
Authorizes the assessor of the county of Nassau to accept an application for exemption from real property taxes from Iglesia Evangelica De El Principe De Paz Inc.
Summary of provisions
This legislation allows the from Iglesia Evangelica De El Principe De Paz Inc. to file an application for exemption from real property taxes for 2010 and 2011 assessment rolls with respect to a portion of the school taxes and all general taxes for property located at 204-A Main Street, Town of Hempstead.
Justification
The Iglesia Evangelica De El Principe De Paz Inc., a not-for-profit church, purchased property at 204-A Main Street, Hempstead, New York from a for-profit corporation, in September 2009. The church did not file an application for tax exemption and now faces a terribly high tax burden for part of 2010 and 2011 although tax exemption was granted for the year 2011-2012.
