Title of bill
An act to amend the parks, recreation and historic preservation law, in relation to certain reimbursements for the provision of ambulance and fire response
Purpose
This bill will require the Palisades Interstate Park to reimburse volunteer ambulance companies and volunteer fire companies that render services to property owned by the Palisades Interstate Park.
Summary of provisions
Section 1: Amends Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Law section 9.05 by adding a new subdivision 3-a to reimburse volunteer ambulance companies and volunteer fire companies for services rendered in the Palisades Interstate Park.
Justification
Volunteer ambulance companies and volunteer fire companies in Orange and Rockland Counties render a tremendous number of services to the Palisades Interstate Park, often in support of visitors from outside the region and state. This is an undue financial burden for the residents of the municipalities that these companies are located in as well as the companies themselves.
