BILL NUMBER:S4872
Title of bill
An act in relation to providing an exemption for the Nanuet County school district from certain requirements regarding valu- ation of the aggregate non-homestead tax share assessment; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof
Purpose of the bill
This bill would exempt the Nanuet school district from certain provisions in the real property tax law.
Summary of provisions
Section 1 of this bill provides that the Nanuet School district, located in Rockland County, shall not be subject to the provisions on subpara- graph (ii) of paragraph (c) of subdivision 4 of section 1903-a of the real property tax law.
Section 2 of this bill relates to the effective date.
Justification
This bill would exempt the Nanuet School District from a requirement to have no more than 57.5% of non-homestead property in one town. The school district will need to temporarily surpass this threshold due to a large tax certiorari in one of the towns in the school district.
