BILL NUMBER:S5227B
Title of bill
An act in relation to the transportation of students in the Rochester city school district
Summary of provisions
Notwithstanding any other rule or regulation to the contrary, and specifically 8 NRCRR 156.2 (a), the Rochester city school district may provide transportation to any pupil who lives more than one-half mile from the school. Such routes shall not be included within the calculation of state aid for transportation purposes.
Justification
Currently, pupils who live within 1.5 miles from school have to walk. This poses serious safety concerns to these children. This bill would authorize the Rochester City School District to provide transportation to all pupils who live more than .5 mile from the school without additional cost to the state.
Fiscal implications
None to state.
Effective date
This act shall take effect immediately.
