BILL NUMBER:S5573

Title of bill

An act authorizing Daniel Cox to apply to re-enter the pension system of the city of New York

Purpose or general idea of bill

This bill would re-open the 90 day window for filing application for retirement to Daniel Cox.

Summary of specific provisions

Section 1: Re-opens the 90 day window for filing application for retirement to Daniel Cox.

Section 2: Attribution of the cost of such benefit being borne by the City of New York.

Section 3: Effective Date.

Justification

Daniel Cox is a former member of the New York City Employees Retirement System who was employed by the NYC Parks and Recreation department during the period of time, from 1982 until 1987. He then preceded employment with the NYC district Attorneys office until his retirement in 1997. He was offered to re-enter service in 2007 with the NY Business Integrity Commission where he currently works to date. For reasons not ascribable to his own negligence he missed the 90 day window for filing to re-enter the pension system. This b8ill would correct this oversight.
