BILL NUMBER:S6481
Title of bill
An act to authorize the assessor of the county of Nassau to accept an application for exemption from real property taxes from the Living Faith Christian Church for a certain parcel of land in the town of Oyster Bay
Purpose
To authorize the Living Faith Christian Church to file an application for a real property tax exemption for a portion of the 2011-2012 assessment roll and a portion of the 2012-2013 assessment roll.
Summary of provisions
Section one allows the Living Faith Christian Church to file a retroactive application for real property tax assessment for the portion of the 2011-2012 and a portion of the 2012-2013 assessment roll.
Section two provides that the act shall take effect immediately.
Justification
The Living Faith Christian Church purchased property located at 35 Hempstead Turnpike, Farmingdale, New York on August 28, 2012. The church had to pay taxes upon closing and has made numerous payments since. The Living Faith Christian Church is an affiliate member of the Conservative Baptist Association of America. The Conservative Baptist Association of America has tax exempt status, thus the IRS recognizes all it subordinates as tax exempt as well.
