BILL NUMBER:S7086
Title of bill
An act to authorize the village of Alfred to offer an optional twenty year retirement plan to police officer Ryan McKee
Purpose:
To authorize the village of Alfred to offer an optimal twenty year retirement plan to police officer Ryan McKee.
Summary of Provisions:
Section 1 authorizes the Village of Alfred to make participation in the optimal twenty year retirement plan, established pursuant to section 384-d of the retirement and social security law, available to Ryan McKee, a police officer employed by the Village of Alfred.
Section 2 provides that all costs associated with implementing the provisions of this act shall be borne by the Village of Alfred and may be amortized over a ten year period.
Section 3 provides that this act shall take effect immediately.
Justification:
This bill was requested by the Village of Alfred and received Village Board approval at its March 2014 meeting.
For reasons not ascribable to his own negligence, police officer Ryan McKee, employed August 16th, 2010, was unable to enroll in the appropriate twenty year retirement plan pursuant to section 384-d of the Retirement and Social Security Law offered by the village of Alfred to police officers in its employ.
Since officer McKee has been employed for more than one year he could not enroll in the desired plan without a special act of the Legislature. This bill grants officer Ryan McKee until June 30, 2015 to file appropriate paperwork to enroll in the Section 384-d plan.
