BILL NUMBER:S7781
Title of bill
An act to authorize the Antrim Players, Inc. to file an application for exemption from real property taxes for the parcel of land located in the town of Ramapo, county of Rockland
Purpose
To authorize the Antrim Players, Inc. to file an application for exemption from real property taxes for the parcel of land located in the town of Ramapo, Rockland county.
Summary of provisions
Section 1. Authorizes the assessor of the Town of Ramapo, Rockland Coun- ty, to accept from the Antrim Players, Inc. an application for exemption for real property taxes pursuant to section 420-a of the real property tax law for the 2011, 2012 and 2013 assessment rolls for the parcel owned by such not-for-profit located at 15 Spook Rock Road, Wesley Hills, county of Rockland.
Section 2. Effective date.
Justification
The Antrim Players, Inc. have been in existence since 1936 and have had continuous tax exempt status since. Several years ago a new treasurer took over for the group. Because of his inexperience, he was unaware that the group needed to file for their exemption each year. This legislation is necessary to allow the Antrim Players, Inc. to restore their exemption, and has been requested by the Town of Ramapo.
