BILL NUMBER:S7935A

Title of bill

An act to amend the economic development law, in relation to eligible projects

Purpose

This bill expands coverage for the Western New York Power Proceeds law, to all of Erie County.

Summary of specific provisions

Section 1 adds the entirety of the County of Erie to the geographic regions from which eligible projects could be considered.

Justification

The Power Proceeds law has been successful in providing a boon for eligible projects located within the current 30 mile radius. However, this radius currently excludes a portion of Erie County that have important projects that would qualify if only located a few short miles from their current location.

By expanding this law to include all of Erie County these projects would be able to be eligible for the same benefits that projects located within the 30 mile radius currently are, therefore benefiting all the taxpayers and communities within Erie County.
