REGULAR SESSION
SENATOR DIANE SAVINO, Acting President
FRANCIS W. PATIENCE, Secretary
P R O C E E D I N G SACTING PRESIDENT SAVINO:The Senate will please come to order.
I ask all those present to please rise with me and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
(Whereupon, the assemblage recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.)
ACTING PRESIDENT SAVINO:Today's invocation will be delivered by Apostle Leeds Jean of the True Vine Ministries/The Last Resort International, from Brooklyn, New York.
APOSTLE JEAN:Praise God. Good afternoon.
Before I do this invocation, at this moment I would like you to put your heart together with me. Last year, on February, I have lost my mother. And following that few months, our Senator lost his mother as well. And I think some of you might have gone through the same thing. We're just going to take a moment right now for that.
(Whereupon, the assemblage respected a moment of silence.)
APOSTLE JEAN:Thank you.
Our Father, we give You praise. Our Father, we bless and magnify Your name. We thank You for being God. We thank You for giving us this moment to come together.
Father, as You have allowed me to be in this place, as you allow me to sit in the heavenly place within You, we pray to You now, God, as I stand here in this place, that You, Father, will grant us the wisdom, grant us that we will do that which You have called us to do here in Jesus' mighty name.
Lord, I pray to You now for each and every individual that is here within this room -- representing the city, representing the state, representing the nation, Father. We pray to You for the individual families, God, my Father. We speak now Your peace within this room. We speak now Your peace over each and every one here. We speak Your peace over each and every community that they represent here.
Our Father, we pray that You will grant them the wisdom, grant them the wisdom and understanding, God, that they will carry out the assignments that enrich Your purpose and call them to carry out within this place.
Father, I speak now to their DNA, according to the purpose in which they have been called to be here, that, God, You will enable them that they will do what is needed to be done within this nation.
Father, we pray to You, God, for the individual communities which they represent now. We pray to You for the individual cities and we pray to You for the people that they represent, the nations that they represent, Father, that You will enable them that they will meet the needs of the people within the communities.
Father, we pray to You now as they are about to deliver, as they are about to put on the floor the concerns, Father, that by the spirit of the Lord, by the spirit of counsel, God, You will empower them, You will give them the words to speak, You will give them the knowledge and the wisdom to articulate the words that they are to speak upon this floor here within this place, Father.
We pray that You empower them, Lord. We pray that You will do it for Your glory and for Your purpose and for the purpose which you have established this nation, that this nation will remain a nation that people and cultures and nations will take pattern after. We pray to You now that You will do it, do it here.
Do it here, Father, and do it within the various communities that they represent. And, God, the people that comes within this nation will see the way that you move with this United States of America, that they may go into the diverse nations and do likewise.
We pray to You that You will let this nation remain a shining nation, a shining place where people in cultural relation will come in and find a place that they desire to dwell in.
We pray Your blessing upon each and every person here, upon their communities, and even upon this nation, Father. And we thank you now, in Jesus' mightiest name.
Amen.
