BILL NUMBER:S1292A
Title of bill
An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to authorizing hunting in the county of Genesee; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof
Purpose
This bill authorizes hunting of big game with rifles in Genesee County
Summary of provisions
Section 1 - adds item (j) to paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section 11-0907 of the Environmental Conservation Law, to add Genesee County to the list of counties that are authorized to hunt big game with rifles.
Section 2 - amends item (f) of paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section 11-0907 of the Environmental Conservation Law, as separately amended by section 14 of Chapter 55 of the Laws of 2014, to add Genesee County to the list of counties that are authorized to hunt big game with rifles.
Section 3 - provides the effective date.
Justification
This bill was requested by the Genesee County Legislature in Resolution Number 374 of 2014. In several areas of the state, sportsmen are allowed to hunt big game with rifles and this change in law would allow the use of rifles in Genesee County.
Legislative history

Fiscal implications
None to the state.
Effective date
This act shall take effect immediately, provided that the amendments to paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section 11-0907 of the Environmental Conservation Law made by sections one and two of this act shall be subject to the expiration and reversion of such paragraph pursuant to section 13 of Chapter 600 of the Laws of 1993, as amended, and shall not extend beyond October 1, 2017.
