BILL NUMBER:S150A

Title of bill

An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to certain registrations of vehicles

Purpose

This bill will ease the vehicle registration process for the agricultural industry by extending the length of seasonal permits.

Summary of provisions

Section 1. Amends the eighth undesignated paragraph of paragraph (f) of subdivision 15 of section 385 of the vehicle and traffic law by extending the seasonal agricultural permit from "four consecutive months" to "from the first of April to the eleventh of November."

Section 2. Effective date.

Existing law

Currently, a seasonal agricultural permit can only be valid for four consecutive months.

Justification

The need for a seasonal agricultural permit extends longer than the current four month limit. A more realistic duration would be from April to November. This bill provides for that reasonable duration.
