BILL NUMBER:S4336A
Title of bill
An act to amend the village law, in relation to allowing the municipal volunteer fire department of the village of Fishkill to hold its annual meeting and election of company and chief officers in December of each year
Purpose
This bill allows the municipal volunteer fire department of the village of Fishkill to have the option of hold its annual meeting and election of company and chief officers in December
Summary of provisions
This bill amends the village law to authorize companies whose members constitute the fire department of the village of Fishkill to hold their annual meeting and election on the first Tuesday in December.
Existing law
The annual meeting for village fire departments is currently held on the first Tuesday of April.
Justification
The service awards program for volunteer firefighters in the village of Fishkill runs on a calendar year. Allowing the department to shift elections to December would simplify the administration of this program.
