Title of bill
An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Canadice Veterans Memorial Highway"
Purpose
To designate a portion of state route 15A in the county of Ontario as the "Canadice Veterans Memorial Highway".
Summary of provisions
Section 1. Amends the highway law, adding Section 344-d, designating the portion of state route fifteen A that runs from the Livonia and Canadice town line, continuing in a generally southerly direction, and terminating at the Canadice and Springwater town line as the "Canadice Veterans Memorial Highway".
Section 2. Provides for the signing and maintenance of this designation, and provides that this designation is of a ceremonial nature and does not change the official name of state route fifteen A.
Section 3. Provides that this act shall take effect immediately.
Justification
This designation, along a stretch of our state highway system, serves as a small token of appreciation to all of our current and former United States Armed Forces services members, from all eras, including the fallen, the wounded, those unaccounted for and former prisoners of war, in humble recognition of their service, sacrifice and commitment to our country and the defense of our freedoms. This highway is a symbolic reminder of the cooperation and camaraderie felt by all American service members, past and present, hailing from the Town of Canadice and all of Ontario County, New York. A resolution in support of this legislation has been passed by the Town of Canadice.
