Title of bill
An act authorizing the town of Fallsburg, county of Sullivan to alienate and convey certain parcels of land used as parkland
Purpose or general idea of bill
To alienate and convey certain parcels of land in the town of Fallsburg
Summary of specific provisions
Section 1: Authorizes the town of Fallsburg, county of Sullivan, to discontinue, alienate and convey certain parcels of parkland.
Section 2: Provides that the validity of the authorization is contingent upon the Town dedicating an amount equal to or greater than the fair market value of the property being alienated toward acquisition of addi- tional parkland and/or capital improvements to existing parkland.
Section 3: Identifies the parcels of land to be discontinued as park- lands and alienated and conveyed.
Section 4: Provides that the discontinuance and conveyance of parkland shall not occur until the town has complied with any federal require- ments pertaining to the alienation or conversion of parklands.
Section 5: Effective date.
Justification
The Town Board of the Town of Fallsburg has unanimously passed a resol- ution approving the sale of a long, narrow stretch of parkland. Upon the condition that the Town dedicate the proceeds from the sale to addi- tional parkland acquisition and/or capital improvements to existing parkland, this bill would give authorization to the Town to alienate such parkland so it may proceed with its sale.
