BILL NUMBER:S4744
Title of bill
An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to hunting safety instructors
Purpose or general idea of bill
This bill provides the issuance of a free hunting license to all active New York State hunter safety instructors.
Summary of specific provisions
A resident of New York State who has been an instructor of a hunter safety course approved by the commissioner, shall be entitled to receive a free hunting license, for the next license year beginning after the date the course was completed.
Justification
Currently, New York State Hunter Safety Instructors do not receive any compensation for their dedication to educating New York State residents in hunter safety. This bill would provide for compensation for their dedication to promote "safety in the fields."
