BILL NUMBER:S4810

Title of bill

An act in relation to service credit for James N. Camarda for his military service during his employment at the Long Island Rail Road

Purpose of bill

To grant James N. Camarda entitlement to "buy back" of prior military service within the Long Island Rail Road pension plan of July 1, 1971.

Summary of specific provisions

Legislates Mr. James N. Camarda a period of three months to file a claim for part or all buy back of military service with the retirement system.

Justification

Having served for the 25th Infantry Division of the United States Army, and during military operations against hostile forces in the Republic of Vietnam in the 1970 period, combat Veteran James N. Camarda is unable to purchase "buy back" of up to three years of prior eligibility military service since he is not a member of the MTA Plan that permitted a buy back. This legislation would make an exception and allow for Mr. Camarda to have the option of buy back.

Legislative history

Previously introduced by Senator Addabbo, S5702/2014.
