Title of bill
An act authorizing the town of Thompson, Sullivan county, to establish a road improvement district
Purpose or general idea of bill
To authorize the Town of Thompson to establish a road improvement district in accordance with the provisions of article 12 and 12-A of the Town Law.
Summary of specific provisions
Section 1:Provides the authorization for the Town of Thompson to establish a special road improvement district in accordance with the provisions of article 12 and 12-A of the Town Law.
Section 2:Provides that the purpose of the road improvement district is to provide for the repair, reconstruction and maintenance of roads and appurtenances within and around the Adelaar development area. This section also provides that any development criteria, construction or reconstruction and subsequent maintenance thereof shall be in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Highway Law and the procedures of the Department of Transportation.
Section 3:Effective date.
Justification
The Town of Thompson has unanimously passed a resolution in support of legislation allowing it to create a special town road improvement district. The creation of this district will allow for upgrades and improvements to roads that are in and around the Adelaar development area without passing the costs on to the town taxpayers.
