BILL NUMBER:S5590
Title of bill
An act authorizing the town of Waterloo, county of Seneca to alienate and convey certain parcels of land used as parkland
Purpose
Authorizes the town of Waterloo, county of Seneca to alienate and convey certain parcels of land used as parkland.
Summary of provisions
Section 1 authorizes the town of Waterloo, county of Seneca, to discon- tinue, alienate and convey certain parcels of parkland.
Section 2 states that the validity of the authorization is contingent upon the Town dedicating an amount equal to or greater than the fair market value of the property being alienated toward acquisition of addi- tional parkland and/or capital improvements to existing parkland.
Section 3 identifies the parcel of land to be discontinued as parklands and alienated and conveyed.
Section 4 states that the discontinuance and conveyance of parkland shall not occur until the town has complied with any federal require- ments pertaining to the alienation or conversion of parklands.
Section 5 indicates the effective date
Justification
The Town Board of the Town of Waterloo has unanimously passed a resol- ution approving the sale of a long, narrow parcel of parkland. Upon the condition that the Town dedicate the proceeds from the sale to addi- tional parkland acquisition and/or capital improvements to existing parkland, this bill would give authorization to the Town to alienate such parkland so it may proceed with its sale.
