An act to amend chapter 422 of the laws of 2008, relating to creating a public library district in the city of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer, in relation to the public library's finances
Purpose or general idea of bill
To provide that the annual appropriation made by the city of Troy to the Troy Public Library shall be the whole dollar amount approved by the voters and paid in full to the Troy Public Library.
Summary of specific provisions
Section 1 amends subdivision one of section 4 of chapter 422 of the laws of 2008 related to creating a public library and the tax levy supporting it.
Section 2 provide the effective date.
Justification
In 2008, legislation was enacted enabling the creation of a special library district in the city of Troy. In 2009, the city of Troy voted to approve the creation of the Troy Public Library with an initial tax levy to support its operations.
