Summary of provisions
Section one, Notwithstanding any other provisions of law to the contrary, Kathleen M. Dalton, a member of the New York State employees' retirement system, employed from April 16, 1987 until June 12, 1997 and who took maternity leave from November 25, 1992 until February 11, 1993, shall be entitled to have such maternity leave credited and deemed as benefits eligible service for retiree health insurance purposes, provided she files a written request to that effect with the department of civil service within 90 days of the effective date of this act.

Justification
Between the period of November 25, 1992 and February 11, 1993, New York State employee, Kathleen M. Dalton, took maternity leave for the birth of her son. She maintained her insurance coverage during that period.
