BILL NUMBER:S6000
Title of bill
An act to amend the elder law, in relation to rules and regulations pertaining to the operation of social adult day care programs
Purpose or general idea of bill
The purpose of this bill is to prevent duplicative state regulations from applying to social adult day programs.
Summary of specific provisions
This bill would amend section 215 of the Elder Law to specify that when there is duplication of regulation between the State Office for the Aging and another state agency with regards to social adult day care, the other state agency's regulations would take precedence.
Justification
Our goal is to encourage adult day programs that provide appropriate and safe services. These programs form an important community level of care. However, we also want to avoid duplication of oversight efforts to reduce burdens on both the agencies and the programs. This bill would ensure coordination of oversight while avoiding confusion where there is duplication.
