Companion bill
The same bill in the other chamber. A bill becomes law when one version passes both houses and the governor signs it, so either number can carry it.

Title of bill
An act to authorize the Flower Hill Hose Company No. 1 to apply for a real property tax exemption for certain property in the town of North Hempstead, county of Nassau
Purpose
To authorize the assessor of the county of Nassau to accept from the Flower Hill Hose Company No. 1 applications for exemptions from real property taxes for part of 2013, the full year of 2014, and the full year of the 2015 general assessment rolls and the second half of the 2013-2014 and full year of the 2014-2015 school tax year assessment rolls, with respect to certain property owned by this not-for-profit entity.
Summary of provisions
Section one authorizes the assessor of the county of Nassau to accept from the Flower Hill Hose Company No. 1 applications for exemptions from real property taxes for part of 2013, the full year of 2014, and the full year of the 2015 general assessment rolls with respect to the general taxes, and for the second half of the 2013-2014 assessment roll with respect to the school taxes and the 2014-2015 assessment roll with respect to the school taxes for the parcel owned by such not-for-profit entity at 9 Evergreen Avenue, in the hamlet of Port Washington, Town of North Hempstead, county of Nassau. If accepted, the applications shall be reviewed as if they had been received on or before the taxable status date established for such rolls.
Section two is the effective date.
Justification
Flower Hill Hose Company No. 1 missed the taxable status deadline due to the timing of the sale and closing of the property. Existing law authorizes tax exemptions to be granted after the taxable status date has passed if a bill is chaptered authorizing an assessor to accept a late application.
