Title of bill
An act in relation to legalizing, validating, ratifying and confirming a transportation contract of the Cold Spring Harbor central school district
Purpose
This bill would correct a clerical error between the Cold Spring Harbor Central School District and the State Education Department in the 2013-14 school year
Summary of provisions
Section 1: Legalizes, validates, ratifies, and confirms a transportation contract, E259217, in connection with a transportation contract of the 2013-14 school year.
Section 2: Directs the Department of Education to consider the aforementioned contract for transportation aid.
Section 3: Sets the effective date
Justification
This bill seeks to mitigate the negative impact to the Cold Spring Harbor Central school district which would lose a major portion of its State aid due to a clerical error on the part of the district, which may result in the loss of transportation aid.
Without the restoration of the transportation aid, the school district would be faced with either cutting the quality and scope of its educational programs or raising real property taxed dramatically. This would place an undue burden on their residents and present hardships to many in their community.
