Title of bill
An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to speed limits in the village of Roslyn Estates, county of Nassau
Purpose or general idea of bill
To authorize the village of Roslyn Estates to lower the speed limit on village roads by five miles per hour.
Summary of specific provisions
Section one amends section 1643 of the vehicle and traffic law to allow the village of Roslyn Estates to lower the speed limit to not less than twenty-five miles per hour on village roads.
Section two sets the effective date
Justification
The incorporated Village of Roslyn Estates is comprised of winding, hilly, tree-lined roads, bounded by 25A to the north, Searingtown Road to the west, Mineola/Willis Avenue to the east, and Christopher Morley Park to the south. Its unique location unfortunately inspires drivers to use Village roads as shortcuts to and from those 3 major roads. At the present time the speed limit is too generous and needs to be curtailed to 25 miles per hour in order to protect Village residents.
